FG Madame named Grand Champion at the 44th Schau der Besten

To the sounds of “You raise me up” presented by singer Christine Winkelmann, FG Madame seemed to be floating on a cloud when being led by her breeder, Henrik Wille, through a sea of fog in the Niedersachsenhalle. This was certainly the highlight of this year’s Schau der Besten in Verden – at the right moment, the right place and with the right cow. Alone for Henrik Wille, this was his third consecutive show.

The progeny presentation at this years Schau der Besten provided a fantastic picture of the quality of the MASTERRIND-sires.

Let’s begin with some impressive figures: About 3,500 visitors witnessed 42 sale entries being auctioned off on a 75 square meter stage, while both front and backstage more than 70 dedicated team members cared for the animals’ wellbeing.

If there were such a thing as the Champions League of Genomics, this cow would dominate: MHD Ester ET – top seller at this MASTERRIND EXCLUSIVE Auction. For a whopping 25,000 euro, a breeder syndicate from Saxony/ Bavaria secured the Jedi daughter from the stable of Milchhof Diera KG in Diera-Zehren, leaving an impressive mark at this auction.

Following the 141 bulls sold in 2016, a new record was set at this auction by exceeding the threshold of 150 bulls. This was underscored by top prices for high-performance cattle of all breeds, and a total average price of 3,141 euro.

The winning bull of the Angus EAZ Tyler breed from breeder stable Dieter Meyer in Bissendorf achieved a breed-specific top price of 5,000 euro. Not least thanks to a well-developed muscular stature, the auctioneer was able to reward the Blonde d’Aquitaine reserve winner GOL Pepboy from Klaus-Dieter Golze of Dassel with a selling price of 3,800 euro.

With 41 stud bulls changing hands at the 26th Saxon Bull Auction, no doubt the event was a major success.

This year’s Grand Champion in Meißen was Sigbert (S. Strabinos), bred by Erwin Forche from Hoyerswerda. Despite the numerous, high-quality selection of Simmental bulls, one breeding operation certainly stood out this year.

The 14th agra in Leipzig takes place from the 4th to the 7th of may 2017. Needless to say, MASTERRIND as leader of the dairy industry will also be there!
