A SUBSIDIARY OF EUROPES LARGEST FARMER OWNED BOVINE BREEDING COMPANY

DAUGHTER GROUPS – SCHAU DER BESTEN GERMANY

Anna Barnett - Thursday 19th March 2015

AMOR-RED (Lawnboy x KHW Goldwyn Aiko-ET RDC)

A highlight of the progeny display in the ring was the very uniform daughter group of 7 Red & White Amor daughters all milking in first lactation. This was remarkable considering that Lower Saxony is not a strong area of Red &White cattle. The young, feminine Amor daughters displayed more strength and width than expected and showed a good rump structure and great developing potential. The highlight of traits observed were the Udders, with excellent udder quality, great attachments and perfect teat placement.

In summary, it was a really promising group of Red &White 2-year-olds demonstrating the type quality of the Durham Altitude family. Amor-Red is already very popular for transmitting high milk solids, very easy calving, and great sire fertility plus he carries the popular Kappa-Kasein genotype BB.

JUCATOR (Jeeves x Buckeye x Titanic x Rudolph x Braedale Gypsy Grand VG-88-5YR-Can).

On the same International Progeny Tour, the visiting group inspected 4 Jucator daughters. This bull is drawing attention as he had been selected as #3 Outcross sire in the world for 2014 by the Holstein International magazine plus his pedigree traces back to Gypsy Grand , the 2003 Canadian Cow of the Year. Of the four Jucator daughters on the tour, two were at the end of first lactation and two in second lactation. All daughters were medium-sized, stronger cows with good rumps and very correct feet and legs. The udders are solidly attached, particularly in the rear with a strong udder cleft. In Summary, this smaller group of Jucator daughters showed that he can make profitable freestall cows with good locomotion; which tend to keep some body condition during lactation and breed back quite quickly. With his unique pedigree, high milk proof, functional type, as well as superb sire fertility, he proves to offer that great all-round package most dairy producers are looking for.

The BEAGLE progeny group at the Schau der Besten (Show of the Best) was convincing for visitors, with great uniformity and outstanding type. This progeny group was the largest daughter group at the show. Beagle is housed at Hawkeye Breeders in the US and a great-looking individual himself. This intriguing Elegant son is one of MASTERRIND’s most popular daughter-proven bulls.

His Dam is Regel Stormatic Beata EX-90, making him part of the well-known Regancrest-PR Durham Barbie EX-92 cow family. His sire stack (Elegant x Stormatic x Bellwood x Rudolph x Lindy) makes him an interesting outcross option for many of today’s popular bloodlines. He should be used on cows that are more dairy to improve feet & legs, udders and strength. The well-attached udders of the Beagle daughters are ideally suited for farms with robot milking systems. Beagle’s daughters are making happy producers in a variety of farm operations and conditions. Beagle’s broad, popular appeal among dairy producers around the world is better understood after seeing these results.
