Spring Calving Sires

This category lists all sires with a positive £SCI value.

Following AHDB's April 2026 update to the £SCI, the index now penalises high-production, high energy demand animals in favour of smaller, more efficient cows suited to grass-based grazing systems. As a result, the index has significantly rebased across the Holstein breed nationally. All bulls listed here carry a positive £SCI, meaning they are above the national average and genuinely suited to spring block calving systems under the new criteria.

The updated £SCI rewards: moderate cow size · efficient grazing genetics · fertility · milk solids from grass · components suited to solids-based milk pricing. It penalises bulls that breed large, high-maintenance cows or daughters requiring excessive concentrate feeding.

£SCI cannot be compared with £PLI or £ACI each index uses its own genetic base.
